ICON NOMINATIONS - JOIN IN! | MY THREAD

No matter what theme/prompt/challenge I sat in front of this month, nothing happened. I really wanted to enter both of these though. monthlyinspo had a grab bag and when I ask for one, I'll make something for it! Round 20 is the final round of somein30, so I also had to enter that one. I only did five icons when my personal minimum is usually ten. Like I said, nothing worked for me this month. I'm not happy with the first five icons, but then I decided to go with the same approach as tinny which worked much better for me :D

After the MCU-only post, here is a Star Wars-only post. Again, it includes icons from two different movieslims rounds. So there are two sections for alternates. On January 1 I'll post all other leftovers from 2022 which will be a bigger post. Hopefully I'll manage to enter at least monthlyinspo before that though.

Last day of the extended deadline and I'm finally posting my entry for monthlyinspo. First I wasn't sure what fandom to use. Thor: Love and Thunder seemed perfect, but initially I was too lazy to go through 80 pages of caps. I thought I'd use another fandom which had a gallery that I could sort by most viewed. That didn't happen and in the end I went through 80 pages of caps. When I had them and finally started my set, I got some neck/shoulder pain which made using Photoshop kinda difficult. My set was original 10 icons, but there were some I wanted to redo since they didn't really fit in with the rest (keeping the original background and mainly monochrome coloring), these are icons 11 and 12.

I haven't made that many icons over the Summer, so I guess it's not too bad that there are icons from February I haven't posted yet. I did also forget to crosspost older entries for a while. These are only MCU icons and it's been a looong time since I made a MCU only post. To be fair, this one does include icons from two different movieslims rounds. That's why there are two sections for alternates ;)

I made it! I finished a second set for somein30, this time with a TV show. Recently I watched Schitt's Creek and it did seem perfect for this challenge. I did the last season and used hard mode. My original plan was to represent the episode titles in some way, but I ended with what I think are recognizable caps.

During the Summer months I barely made any icons, but I also neglected to update this community with the (by now) old icons have still laying around *sighs*
So here is my entry for somein30. I picked Extra Hard Mode. I'm in a bit of a Star Wars mood after playing the Lego Skywalker Saga which makes this mode much easier. They are in chronological order since that's also how I played the game. I tried to tie them all together by adding some grunge to every icon. The icons from the new movies still look very different with their more vibrant coloring. I'd love to do another set which fits a bit more with the theme and use a TV show, but I'm not sure if that will happen. I also feel a tad bit rusty, so these are pretty simple overall, but it still took me a while to make them.

I have not made any post that wasn't made for a specific challenge here this year yet. Sorry!? The Witcher icons are actually from the same LIMS as the icons I posted on January 2. They have been a couple of LIMS icons since then which always means I make a lot of alternates. I'll be making a couple of smaller posts, 30-40 icons, but probably not in quick succession. At least all icons made in January are out of the way...

Here is what I refer to as my main set for the current somein30 challenge. It uses hard mode and I have to say that I'm rather proud of it. Not because the icons are particularly usable, but it was quite the project. Again, not even the icons itself, but finding the right subjects/screencaps, how to interpret certain songs, and make it all fit together. Since I already made a mini set for the challenge, I did take my time for this one and doesn't matter how close to the deadline I enter. That said, I did not work on it for a month after initially starting like a day after it was posted. Below the icon table is lengthy(?) write-up about the album itself and the inspiration for each icon.

I actually have a proper set for somein30 that I'm working on and will hopefully finish after not working on it for fours weeks. Meanwhile, I am completely obsessed with this one song/music video at the moment (not going to be everyone's cup of tea) and I had to channel that into...something. This is supposed to be ultra hard mode (never thought I'd say that) but I did the exact opposite of what the theme post says and used the chorus only with all the repeated bits. In any case, it does fit the theme in general. I'm not sure how well these turned out since text is still my enemy, but I had fun! Using the same coloring on all of them at least help to great a coherent look.

Look who enters a second challenge this month! And without an extension. I couldn't resist this inspiration post either. These should all be extra hard mode. It actually seemed easier since I picked one fandom, so using provided textures for the icons worked well. I'm looking forward to Part 2. Maybe in that round I'll actually icon musicians ;)

I love monthlyinspo's theme Spice Up Your Life and the entire theme post. It took me a while (of course) to decide on a fandom, but now I'm happy with how most of these turned out. I tried to do a bit of a interpretative approach, like using a "fresh" new character for mint. Others, like sage, are purely based on color.

Thanks so much to vapor for the extension on this month's monthlyinspo challenge with the theme two of a kind. I chose to icon different combinations of characters from The Expanse and this could have also worked for 20 icons. Occasionally I have this problem that I save caps and think all the work is done. Nope, still need to actually make the icons. Then I thought I had until the end of the month. When I realized that mistake, RL happened and I wasn't finished on the 23rd -.-
Anyway, I managed it now and I'm actually rather happy with how these turned out. I went with vibrant (or at least not muted) for all of them which worked out fine.
